Who we are
Ask 4 (ask4.online) is run by Manuel Somoza Vázquez, who is responsible for your personal data (the “data controller”). For anything related to your data, write to support@ask4.online.
What we collect
- Your account. When you log in with Google, it shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We use them to identify your account and to contact you if needed. We don’t show them on the site. We also keep the questions and products you save, which only you can see.
- The indie hacker ranking. If you join the indie hacker ranking, you connect your X account and X shares your name, username, profile picture and account id with us. Your X name, username and profile picture are shown publicly, together with the categories you choose. We keep a copy of your profile picture as it was when you joined. When you leave the ranking we disconnect your X account.
- What you publish. Questions, products (name, type, logo, description, website and screenshots), the products you propose as answers and your votes. Questions and products are public, but your name or email is never shown next to them. Votes, for answers and for indie hackers, are only shown as totals.
- Technical data. Our hosting providers keep short-lived logs with your IP address and browser details to run the service and protect it from abuse.
Why we use it
- To give you an account and let you ask questions, add products, join the ranking and vote. The legal basis is the contract you accept by using the site (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in protecting the service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
We don’t sell your data, show ads or use it to build profiles about you.
Cookies
We only use the cookies needed to keep you logged in. We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so we don’t need to ask for your consent.
Who we share it with
We use these providers to run the site. They only process your data on our behalf:
- Supabase: database, login and image storage.
- Vercel: website hosting.
Our servers are located in the European Union. Both providers are US companies, so some data may be accessed from the United States; this is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. Google (your login) and X (connecting your X account) handle your data under their own privacy policies (Google, X).
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. If you leave the indie hacker ranking, we delete your spot, the votes it received and the copy of your profile picture straight away. To delete your account, write to support@ask4.online: we will delete it, together with everything you published, within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to restrict or object to how we use it, by writing to support@ask4.online. If you think we haven’t handled your data properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).
Minimum age
You must be at least 14 years old to create an account. If you believe a child under 14 has given us personal data, write to support@ask4.online and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the date at the top. If the changes are important, we will let you know on the site.
